Hey folks,
You landed on this page because Google decided it did not like websites that provided helpful content to people who were looking for answers about church technology. This was not just about church technology but they have decimated sites similar to it. Check out this article by HouseFresh , The Verge, and RetroDodo.
I have had to pivot. Church Technology is a very small niche. So when faced with my traffic being decimated, I realized that I really had no choice but to shut down the website. Social media would not make up the traffic that was needed to pay for the site.
If you are tired of the Google monopoly I suggest you divest yourself from all Google Products. Here are some options.
- Use Bing, Yahoo, or DuckDuckGo as your search engine.
- Use Firefox as your web browser. Brave, Edge, and other browsers are still using Chromium as the base technology and still sends data to Google.
- Stop using Gmail and switch to Protonmail.
- Stop using the Google publishing suite. Google Docs, Google Sheets, Etc.
Finally, if you would consider sharing this website with your church leaders, I provide inexpensive Bible studies for Sunday school, Mid-Week Bible studies, and home groups.
Blessings!
Pastor Duke
Hi Pastor Duke, I just came across this article after it was referenced by ChurchLeaders. As the leader of a company that helps Christian organizations reach more people through better SEO, I share your frustration with the way big media companies have been able to game Google. I’m curious to hear more details (data) on specifically what Easy Church Tech experienced. If we connected a year ago, its possible we could have worked with you to create a strategy to combat these challenges.
Hi Paul,
Thanks for your comment. Easy Church Tech was hit by the review updates. My personal blog that had been in existence since 2011 was hit in March 2024 with a manual penalty for pure spam. I am not a google fan in the least. They are in the middle of a transition from a content search engine to a content creation engine. Since that time they have been deemed an illegal monopoly by the courts are in the penalty phase of that decision. Chegg has sued them for predatory practices concerning content. They will reap what they have sown.
I wish you all the best, but there have been very few recoveries from the HCU. I honestly would stick to other forms of SEO if it were me.
